2014 Recap
The year opened with a training program for sisters Ching Barretto-Cabildo and Chiqui O. Barretto of EMPRISE CONSULTING. They invited me to give a seminar at Calamba, Laguna on my specialty, Confidence Building and Personality Development. The very well attended event consisted of 80 very happy and satisfied students, professionals, and entrepreneurs who gave overwhelming responses of gratitude and delight. Later on in the year, a very successful follow-up was again held in Laguna, but on the subject of Speech and Oral Communication Development.
Then, very successful runs of my oral and written communications programs were conducted for these giant organizations: WSI Philippines and TIEZA. For WSI, one of the country’s leading distributors of IT products, training was conducted in two parts: the first was for their salespeople and administrative staff and the second, for their top partners and re-sellers who came to attend from all over the country. As for TIEZA (formerly known as Philippine Tourism Authority), the programs were held for their officers and senior management staff who, like the people from WSI, gave back tremendously positive response.
From 2003 to 2010, I was the regular provider of soft skills training to one of the largest companies in the world: HEWLETT-PACKARD (PHILS.). This year, I trained them again. Twice.Earlier in the year, I conducted a Success and Confidence Building program for them and it was so well received that the same group of people who attended the first batch requested an encore: Business Writing!
Not long after, I conducted an Effective Communications program for about 50 people from LPG distributor and industrial goods manufacturer BRENT GROUP at their spanking new acquisition: the Cities Events Place in Quezon City. I felt so hip teaching at a music lounge replete with a shiny bar and glass-floor stage where bands would play on weekends. It was great fun!
Another feather was again added to my already very well adorned cap sometime in August when I trained PC EXPRESS – the country’s second largest computer retailer (currently with nearly 50 stores nationwide). I conducted my Oral and Written Communications Program for the Store Managers and key Administrative Personnel to much positive response, as usual! Mark Sioson of the SM City Lipa Branch said: “I would like to be YOU someday. Attending your program was the BEST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I thank you so much! You are the BEST TEACHER!”
On the last working day of the year for CSWI, nearly 100 paid attendees trooped to the WSI Corporate Center in Makati City to take part in my 12th annual SUCCESS EVENT that never fails to live up to its name. I would like to give a very special shout-out to SEC Assistant Director, Ms. Lilet Valerio-Infantewho joined this seminar again ten years after she first enrolled in my school. It’s people like her that make me want to continue doing this forever.
She posted this sweet message on my Facebook page after the session: “Dear Sir Vernon, it’s great to see that you’re still #fab@44! It’s been a decade since I enrolled at CSWI, yet the lessons and your motivational talks remain relevant today. You’re the best teacher I’ve had because I can recall practically everything you taught us in class, including the lessons you gave us on Success Building. Lest people think that the first seminar didn’t work – I must say that I just didn’t want to pass up the opportunity to attend your lecture (and be with you again) so I can learn something new. Truly, you’re a blessing to others so I hope you can continue sharing your gift for a long time. God bless you and your wonderful CSWI family. Cheers!”
